Michael Dunbar, Ben Bedford, and the Fifth House Ensemble in a visual and musical celebration of the creative process PREMIERE EVENT! In a collaborative event conceived by Sangamon Auditorium Director Bob Vaughn, Springfield resident Michael Dunbar’s powerful sculptures, singer-songwriter Ben Bedford’s music and lyrics and Chicago’s Fifth House Ensemble’s chamber music arrangements come together in a celebration of the creative process. The multi-media performance will include new musical works by Bedford inspired by and set to a backdrop of images and footage of Dunbar’s body of work. About the artists: With major works commissioned and installed throughout the country, sculptor Michael Dunbar’s works manifest a combination of mathematical relationships with mechanical exactness while still embracing imagination, animation and aesthetics. Fifth House Ensemble is a versatile and dynamic chamber ensemble praised by the New York Times for its “conviction, authority and finesse” and defined by its limitless imagination, energy and insatiable desire to bring chamber music to audiences of all types. A stalwart on the local scene while playing folk music on regional, national and international levels, Springfield-based Ben Bedford was named to a list of “50 most significant folk singer-songwriters of the past 50 years” by venerable folk DJ Rich Warren of Chicago’s WFMT.
