The Chamber’s Business Retention and Expansion (BRE) program has reached out to businesses for many years to gauge how they view the economy of Springfield and Sangamon County.  An interview based tool is utilized to help the Chamber understand the specific needs of local companies and to provide direction to those companies considering expansion of their operations.

Recently, The Chamber purchased an additional survey tool called Talent, which will be used to explore employment practices, worker needs, and workforce challenges. This interview based questionnaire is designed to provide an understanding of the short and long-term workforce needs of employers in Springfield and Sangamon County. The overall goal is to identify demand driven approaches to workforce development.

This local emphasis with The Chamber’s economic development efforts recognizes the fact that the overwhelming majority of business growth, job creation and workforce development comes from within our community’s existing base of businesses and employers.

These two surveys will provide information that will be used to create data and trend lines which will be provided to the business community and government leaders to help plan for the future economic development of our area.

If your organization or human resources representative is interested in completing a Talent survey, please contact Sarah Graham at or 217-525-1173.
