The Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce’s Business Education Partnership of Sangamon County (BEP) is still accepting business people to participate in Business Education Week. Held Oct. 17, 18 and 19, Business Education Week is designated as a time to get community members involved in conversations about education, our schools and help individuals understand the complex roles of school principals and teachers so organizations can get a perspective on the school system from within.
The two programs that the community is invited to participate in during Business Education Week are Principal for a Day and Business Professionals in the Classroom.

The Principal for a Day program:
The Principal for a Day program allows employees to shadow a school principal for one full school day, where principals discuss the challenges they face, inform the participant about what students are learning and achieving, and how this directly relates to workforce development. Additionally, this gives company representatives an opportunity to see where they can become involved in education for Sangamon County.

The Business Professionals in the Classroom program:
The Business Professionals in the Classroom program (2-3 hours) is open to all business professionals and allows them to teach a lesson related to their career or assist a teacher in their daily routine. Additionally, the professionals get a detailed view of how a typical classroom is managed and what teachers encounter with today’s students.
In addition to local businesses, Springfield School District #186, Ball-Chatham School District, Auburn School District, Williamsville School District and numerous private schools in the area are involved annually.
