REPORTS TO: Superintendent of Schools

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. General Administrative with a valid Illinois Professional Educator’s License with a Chief School Business Official endorsement preferred,

  2. Bachelor’s degree required and a Masters is highly preferred

  3. Minimum of three years business experience in a large school district or similar education organization, governmental agency or private sector preferred

  4. Expertise in governmental accounting standards and reporting

  5. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and consensus-building skills

  6. Compensation is contingent upon endorsements and experiences

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist the Superintendent in administering the business affairs of the District

  2. Manage all district financial policies, procedures, and activities ensuring compliance with pertinent federal, state and local laws and regulations

  3. Serve as the District’s treasurer

  4. Serve on the District’s Cabinet

  5. Prepare and submit to the Superintendent and Board of Education the annual appropriation and tax levy ordinances

  6. Prepare all financial reports for approval and submission in an accurate and timely manner

  7. Coordinate all insurance coverage for the District with our third party provider and lead risk management procedures and processes

  8. Prepare and present financial reports and agenda items to the Board of Education

  9. Organize and prepare the annual budgets in consultation with the Superintendent and the District cabinet members.

  10. Responsible for the operation of the Department of Business Services, including but not limited to

    accounting, payroll, purchasing, food services, transportation, risk management, and employee benefits

  11. Responsible for contracting and coordinating internal and external audits including federal and state grants in consultation with the Chief Officer of Federal Funding

  12. Supervise and evaluate classified personnel assigned to the Director of Business Services

  13. Maintain an up-to-date inventory of facilities, equipment with identification numbers, locations, date of purchase and purchase order number

  14. Implement and manage the District Finance Software programs

  15. Coordinate and collaborate with local community entities that support District 186
