Bistro Verde, Lincoln Land Community College’s student-run café, is open during the spring 2020 semester on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. through March 5 and March 26 to April 23. The community is invited to experience food prepared and served by LLCC culinary arts, baking and pastry, and hospitality students.
Bistro Verde, located inside the Workforce Careers Center on LLCC’s Springfield campus at 5250 Shepherd Road, is offering a full-service dining experience this spring. Reservations are encouraged, and can be made by emailing email@example.com, calling 217-786-2821 or stopping by the café during hours of business. Cash and debit or credit cards are accepted.
The café’s dining room is staffed by students from the Dining Room Operations class, and food is prepared by students in the Food Production IV class. Desserts are created by students enrolled in the Advanced Baking and Pastry and Restaurant Desserts classes. Students gain practical hands-on experience and learn about providing diners with high quality food and service to create a memorable dining occasion. They are taught and supervised by an experienced team of professional culinary and hospitality instructors.
LLCC offers an associate in applied science degree in culinary arts and also in hospitality management. Certificates offered include culinary manager, first cook, baking and pastry, hospitality professional and hospitality supervisor. LLCC also offers non-credit cooking and baking classes, as well as Bistro Verde dinners through the Culinary Institute.
