Springfield, Ill. — With the implementation of FEMA’s COVID-19 Funeral Assistance application process, Butler Funeral Homes and affiliates desire that the greater Springfield area be aware of the program along with providing the application information to families that believe they might be eligible to apply for a reimbursement.
FEMA begins accepting applications Monday, April 12, 2021.
Any family that paid funeral expenses for a loved one whose cause of death was determined to be COVID related could be eligible to apply for a reimbursement as long as the expenses were incurred after January 20, 2020.
The application requires:
· An official death certificate that attributes the death to COVID-19
· Funeral expense documents
· Proof of funds received from other sources
