Description
Route 66 is celebrating 100 years in 2026. Visit Springfield and the Illinois Route 66 Scenic Byway have been preparing for the Centennial since 2019. The Citizens Club welcomes you to learn about all the Route 66 projects completed in the Springfield area during the past seven years, events planned for the Route 66 Centennial in 2026, why the capital city is the heart of Illinois Route 66, and where the Mother Road is heading. Presenters will include Scott Dahl, director, Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau; Casey Claypool, executive director, Illinois Route 66 Scenic Byway; and Darrin Thurman, tourism manager, Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau. Joyce Nardulli, Citizens Club president, will moderate.
