Description
Animal Protective League along with animal-lovers and animal welfare organizations across the globe will unite on Thursday, September 24, 2015 with a Remember Me Thursday? pet candle-lighting ceremony and dog walk. The candles, lit on the exact same day across the world, will honor the millions of pets who lost their lives without the benefit of a loving home and shine a light on the millions of healthy pets who are still awaiting adoption. Registration will begin at 5:30pm at the Hope Picnic Shelter at Southwind Park. Pizza will be provided by Lake Pointe Grill to enjoy as well as assorted activities for pets to participate in. The walk itself will get underway at 7pm The first 50 people who sign up will receive a gift bag and t-shirt. All walkers will receive one candle. If additional people would like to walk with you, additional candles may be purchased for an additional $5.00. You must sign up and pay for your registration by September 10th to guarantee your shirt. All the proceeds will benefit the animals in APL's care. For everyone's safety no one person is permitted to walk more than two dogs. Anyone bringing a pet will need to sign a waiver at registration stating that the pet is at least 4 months of age, current on all vaccines and, to the best of your knowledge, in good health. All animals must be kept on a leash at all times or in a size appropriate carrier and are not permitted to come into physical contact with any other animals at the walk. It is the owners' responsibility to keep control of their animals at all times. The owner also assumes all liability for the behavior of their pet(s). Sponsored by Butler Funeral Home, Rose Lawn Pet Cemetery Springfield Park District, The Edwin Watts Southwind Park and Animal Protective League along with Laketown Animal Hospital and Casey's General Store,
