City of Springfield Welcomes Suraksha Bhandari as New Professional Planner

The City of Springfield is proud to announce Suraksha Bhandari as the new Professional Planner for the Office of Planning and Economic Development, effective December 1, 2025. This decision highlights the important role planning plays in the City’s growth and development. As the City works to guide new initiatives and support economic progress, Suraksha’s experience will be critical in providing the expertise and direction needed to move projects forward and help the community thrive.
 
Suraksha brings a strong background in urban planning, architecture, and disaster risk management. Most recently, she completed her Master’s in City and Metropolitan Planning at the University of Utah, where she led research on land use, resilience, and housing strategies. She has also contributed to municipal master plans, urban mobility projects, and community-focused planning initiatives both in the U.S. and Nepal.
 
“I’m honored to join the City of Springfield and excited to work with the community to help build a vibrant and resilient city for today and for the future,” Suraksha said.
