It's always interesting to scan the headlines for workforce and hiring trends. Hiring is such a hot topic across the country that you can always find fascinating stories about what program is working in different communities or what unique venture a particular business is finding success with.

Last week, it was very interesting to read this Vice article: Gen Z Started Using TikTok to Find Jobs Out of Desperation, and It’s Actually Working

Now, the article itself is a little misleading. The data was collected by surveying 900 employees meaning only 414 actually found a job this way. Sure more of them used Instagram for career content then LinkedIn but Gen Z is currently 14-29 years old and if you look at the average age across LinkedIn, it trends younger but I would argue it's Millennials and older who are actually actively using the platform.

I do think it's interesting to see the ways people are shifting to find work or employees in competitive landscapes. Locally, I haven't heard of companies experiencing the average "242 applications for corporate job posting" in fact usually it's the opposite. This is a good reminder that you should be meeting people where they are. If you're looking for an entry-level, young professional are you targeting them on the platforms and places they frequent? If not, that could be why you aren't finding success.
