A well-established organization in the Springfield, Illinois area is seeking an experienced Accountant to join them as a Controller. They will lead accounting operations and provide financial oversight across the business. This role will work closely with leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and informed strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and maintain effective internal controls
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis efforts
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior leadership
- Manage and develop accounting staff as applicable
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred)
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
- Manufacturing or industrial experience preferred
- Advanced Excel and accounting system proficiency
- Detail-oriented, analytical, and collaborative
