Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and results oriented individual to serve as Assistant Reimbursement Officer.  Under direct supervision, this position will perform a variety of paraprofessional reimbursement duties.  The position will receive and review initial applications for federal Medicaid and Title IV-E funds for child care and administrative costs for youth in care and will process all Emergency Assistance Program initial and subsequent intact family applications.  This position provides a great opportunity for a motivated individual who is interested in playing a role in the reimbursement process for the Department of Children and Family Services.  DCFS offers a competitive compensation plan, excellent benefits, and a pension program.  The ideal candidate for this position will have excellent organizational skills and communication skills.  We invite you to join our innovative team to help make a positive difference in the lives of the children and families of Illinois.

Essential Functions

  • Serves as Assistant Reimbursement Officer.
  • Processes all Emergency Assistance Program (EAP) initial and subsequent intact family applications.
  • Provides assistance in the court order process by retrieving documents from the court order mailbox and printing all orders to prepare for the support staff/Eligibility Determination Unit applications process.
  • Serves as contact person for unit equipment issues.
  • Matches Adoption Assistance (AA) packets with the AA applications received from the Technical Support Unit.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school, preferably with courses in accounting and office procedures.
  • Requires one year of work experience, preferably with emphasis in bookkeeping/accounting and office operations.
