Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Illinois (RMHCCI) provides essential services that remove barriers, strengthens families, and promotes healing when children need healthcare. We care for families with children who are ill or injured. We see a world where every family has what they need to ensure the best health outcomes for their children.

The Director of Programs supports the Chief Operating Officer to care for families. You build and empower a team of competent and compassionate employees and volunteers who deliver our mission at our two Houses and in our partner hospitals (Peoria and Springfield). You orchestrate wrap-around services for our families, create and enforce policies, advance a culture of caring, and build our partnerships with health care providers. You are critical to the daily operations of our programs—you set the pace and tone of our frontline staff.
Note: This position covers both our Springfield House and our Peoria House. You must be in-person at both Houses

What You’ll Do To Drive Success and Get Us To Where We’re Going
So we can Serve More Families, Better, you will
- Lead practices that maintain a safe, secure, and inclusive environment at all times
- Ensure all procedures are observed for background screenings, visitor access, check-in and check-out, etc.
- Hire, train, and supervise program staff (Family Services Leads and Family Services Specialists) at the Peoria House and the Springfield House.
- Ensure that informed decisions are made based on policies, procedures, and experience that keep a welcoming, safe, and supportive environment in the House
- Provide exceptional levels of customer service to families, visitors, volunteers and teammates to create a welcoming and uplifting environment
- Maintain a welcoming and safe environment by addressing concerns and enforcing rules and policies - intervening with appropriate actions, and preparing required documentation as needed
- Manage House communications channels, including email and the guest services platform
- Address emergencies or other circumstances that require immediate attention
- Make sure that food is available for all families
- Maintain the safety and security of the House, its contents, and guest families at all times
- Monitor inventory and stock supplies
- Share on-call duties to triage emergencies during non-business hours

- Collaborate with the Operations Team to ensure a safe and clean environment for families
- Collaborate with volunteers designated to support Programs
- Develop and maintain partnerships with community nonprofits to support our staff and families
- Build camaraderie between the Houses and create a culture of “us”
So we can Drive Engagement, you will
- Coordinate with the Development Team to ensure donors and volunteers are engaged and properly acknowledged
- Set the standard that everyone who engages with our programs is a potential volunteer or donor
- Create an environment where the frontline team embraces their role in fundraising and volunteer recruitment
- Share the mission of RMHCCI in the community

- Demonstrate our core values when interacting with families, teammates, contractors and volunteers

- Nurture professionalism in the Program Team
- Create training opportunities for the Program Team that will benefit not only their professional development, but improve services to families

- Complete training and professional development to improve skills
- Be a resource to the Chief Operating Officer
- Perform other duties as assigned to deliver a safe, welcoming environment for families, volunteers, visitors, and staff

What You Bring To The Table
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field with a minimum 5=years experience leading programs in nonprofit settings
- Proven ability to build a team
- Infectious enthusiasm that permeates through the teams in both communities
- Willingness to commute between the communities multiple times a week (about 50% of your time in each community)
- A flexible schedule to ensure that you are engaged with all team members
- Working knowledge of principles and practices of project management, change management and human resources
- Sound knowledge of nonprofit budgeting
- Experience supervising frontline staff.
- Extensive knowledge and experience of working with individuals in crisis
- Confidence and sound judgment to make quick decisions in critical situations
- The ability to complete the physical tasks for the job
- Ability to work independently while also being a team player
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Family safety and security are paramount to RMHCCI - you’ll be able to successfully clear any pre-employment drug screen, background check, and driver’s license requirements
- Reliable transportation or dependable support to be able to arrive on time for every scheduled shift
