Diwali is the “Festival of Lights," which is annually in autumn, usually between mid-October and mid-November, to honor the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance. In celebration and to be a light in their communities, the Indo-American Society of Peoria (IASP), along with PJ Dance Academy, will host their 3rd Annual UTSAV Diwali Gala on October 25th at the Peoria Civic Center.
The event consists of a spectacular theatre performance followed by fireworks and a Gala Dinner. This annual event has become a fundraiser to benefit EP!C. Each year, proceeds have been allocated for the expansion of their educational and career focused programs. Last year’s event helped open a new Career Center in their Peoria headquarters.
This year’s performance is shaping up to be another unforgettable production. Alice in Wonderland: Reimagined, directed by Prasanna Jeer of PJ Dance Academy, is a bold, cross-cultural retelling of the beloved tale, brought to life through sweeping choreography, immersive visuals, and an original script laced with wit, mystery, and myth. Their story follows three powerful heroines as they journey across realms to challenge the Red Queen and restore balance to a world stuck in a loop.
Featuring over 100 performers in partnership with Central Illinois Ballet and the Peoria Chinese Association, audiences will be dazzled by a range of classical and contemporary dance forms. Alice in Wonderland: Reimagined is the ultimate celebration of unity, courage, and transformation, crafted to captivate audiences of all ages.
While the Gala dinner is sold out, tickets to the performance are still available. The show will be hosted in the Prairie Home Alliance Theater at the Peoria Civic Center on Saturday, October 25. Doors open at 4:00pm, theatre seating starts at 4:30pm, and curtain is at 5:00pm. Purchase through Ticketmaster https://bit.ly/PCCDiwali25
