A NEW MURAL IN SPRINGFIELD

The Springfield Art Association has been awarded a grant from Healing Illinois, a division of the Field Foundation of Illinois, to add a mural to Jaycee Park in Springfield. Local artist Jeff Williams has designed the mural and is working with three student assistants to produce the dynamic and colorful mural on all four sides of the structure at the park, adjacent to the playground. The underlying theme of Jeff’s graphic design is love. It incorporates traditional African Adinkra symbols with powerful positive messages like excellence, knowledge, loyalty, wisdom, greatness, and Mother Earth.
 
We are thrilled to add this colorful mural to the neighborhood. To celebrate the completion of the mural we will be holding a reception on Monday, June 30^th from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. Residents and art enthusiasts are invited to come to check it out, meet the artist and his assistants, and enjoy an evening in the park. Light refreshments will be served. This event is free and open to the public.
