Electric crews are responding to power outages following damage caused by storms with high winds last night that broke several poles and brought power lines down. Damage assessment and crew work is underway by CWLP, contract crews, City personnel and other first responders. Crews are working to restore power to the largest groups of customers as quickly and safely as possible.
At the height of the storms over 5,300 customers were impacted. Current outages as of 9:15 a.m. are at 1,270 customers located in three large areas on the north side of town and in a number of other smaller pockets where distribution or individual service line damage has occurred. This includes:
- 436 Northgate area, broken poles
- 392 Indian Hills area, broken poles
- 219 area between E. Ridgely Avenue and E. Watch Avenue near Lawless park
- 15 other smaller pockets of outages
Residents should not attempt to clear trees or other debris from lines and all lines should be treated as live even in areas where power is out. Drivers should proceed cautiously as traffic lights could be out and plan to treat intersections as a four-way stop.
Estimates for power restoration will not be immediately available due to the scope of damage. Customers can view and track their electric service status by inputting their street address and phone number from the outage map at https://outagemap.cwlp.com/. More information and updates on outage status will be shared with the news media and posted as available on the CWLP Facebook and X pages, www.facebook.com/4CWLP, https://x.com/CWLP_.
