Floyd Imports is hosting a school supply drive for Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Illinois on August 9.
The school supply drive will be held at Floyd Imports, located at 2320 Prairie Crossing Drive in Springfield, from 12 pm to 3 pm.
"We are inviting everyone to donate school supplies, filling up Floyd Imports' all-electric VW ID Buzz," said Floyd Imports co-owner Andy Floyd. "We are so thankful for the work Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Illinois does in our community, and we want to help as many youngsters as possible as they start the school year."
Donors can take a photo with Buzz at the selfie station and enjoy music and complimentary refreshments.
In exchange for donating new school supplies, donors will receive $25 off a car detail. One lucky donor will receive a free full detail.
All donated items will be distributed to local students in need through the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Illinois. Deann French, Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Illinois director of marketing communications and resource development, said, "Every child deserves to begin the school year equipped for success. "We deeply appreciate Floyd Imports for stepping up to support our mission and investing in the future of local kids.
"Thanks to this event, we're one step closer to providing 400 fully stocked backpacks to our members, giving them the confidence and tools they need from day one. Collaborations like this show just how much we can accomplish when a community comes together to create bright futures for its youth."
Donations can also be made between now and August 9, and participants will be added to the drawing.
Items needed include backpacks, notebooks, #2 pencils, pens, crayons, highlighters, washable markers, dry-erase markers, folders, binders, paper, glue sticks, Kleenex, and Clorox wipes.
