Green Toyota Announces Groundbreaking Ceremony for $11M Expansion Project

Springfield, IL – Green Toyota is excited to announce the groundbreaking of a major expansion and renovation project at their dealership, set to take place on Monday, February 3 at 10:00 AM. The ceremony will be attended by local dignitaries, including Mayor Busher, Alderman Hanauer, representatives from the local trade industry, Mike Murphy of the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce (GSCC), and Toyota representatives.
 
This expansion project, valued at nearly $11 million, is poised to elevate the dealership experience for both employees and customers. The nearly year-long construction process will significantly modernize and expand the Toyota showroom, service areas, and customer amenities, reinforcing Green Toyota’s commitment to providing top-tier service in the local community.

Key Highlights of the Project Include:

• Expansion of Staff: Additional staff will be added across all departments, including sales, service technicians, service advisors, finance, sales managers, and office personnel.
• State-of-the-Art Facilities: The renovation will bring the latest in automotive service technology and customer amenities, including a climate-controlled shop, new locker rooms modeled after NCAA facilities, and an interactive conference training room.
• Enhanced Customer Experience: Customers will enjoy upgraded lounges, waiting rooms, offices, and workstations. New amenities such as a high-end cappuccino machine, Pepsi product dispenser, and multiple coffee flavor options will ensure a comfortable visit.
• New Inventory Allocation: The expansion will provide Green Toyota with nearly 1,000 additional Toyota vehicles over the next three years, offering the largest selection of Toyotas south of I-80.

 
While construction is underway, Green Toyota’s sales operations will temporarily relocate to the Volkswagen Audi showroom next door, and the service department will remain fully operational with walk-in parts counter sales available.
 
A Local Commitment:
One of the most significant aspects of this expansion is that it will be built entirely by local tradespeople, for the benefit of the local community.
 
The project is expected to take about one year to complete, with a grand reopening scheduled for December 2025. Once finished, the dealership will provide an exceptional and modern environment for both employees and customers.
