Kuehnel celebrates 25 years with Hanson

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Jimmie Kuehnel, GIS specialist, recently celebrated 25 years of service with Hanson Professional Services Inc.

Kuehnel, who joined the company in 2000, works at the firm’s Springfield headquarters. He spent the first part of his Hanson career with the land surveying group, using computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) to design cross-sections; contour, topographic, hydrographic and navigational maps; and survey plats, as well as providing field services. Today, he provides geographic information system (GIS) and mobile mapping services on many projects, including for the Illinois Department of Transportation Bureau of Land Acquisition’s outdoor advertising control support services program, for Ameren Illinois and Ameren Missouri and for tower and hangar inspections for the U.S. Navy worldwide. He also manages GIS and emergency call data for the village of Hillside. 

Kuehnel earned an associate degree in drafting/CADD technology in 1993 from Lewis and Clark Community College. He is a member of the St. Louis GIS Users Group and the Illinois GIS Association.
