Mini O’Beirne Crisis Nursery Awarded $250,000 Grant from the Justice Benjamin K. Miller Charitable Fund
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Mini O’Beirne Crisis Nursery (MOCN) is honored to announce that it has been awarded a $250,000 grant from Justice Benjamin K. Miller Charitable Fund. This transformative investment will help ensure that children and families in crisis continue to receive the support, safety, and care they need when they need it most.
The grant provides flexible funding to support MOCN’s mission of preventing child abuse and neglect through emergency childcare, family support services, crisis intervention, and other operational needs. Most importantly, the investment will help increase MOCN’s capacity to serve more children and families throughout Central Illinois, ensuring that those facing crisis have access to support before challenges become emergencies.
"For more than 37 years, the Mini O’Beirne Crisis Nursery has been a place of hope for families facing overwhelming circumstances," said Chriss Wilson, Executive Director of the Mini O’Beirne Crisis Nursery. "As the need for our services continues to grow, increasing our capacity has become essential. This extraordinary gift from the Justice Benjamin K. Miller Charitable Fund will allow us to strengthen our programs and expand our reach. We are deeply grateful for this investment in our mission and in the families we serve."
The Justice Benjamin K. Miller Charitable Fund was established to continue the legacy of Justice Benjamin Miller and his commitment to improving the lives of others through charitable giving, including assistance for women in need. The fund will support MOCN's future growth and strengthen its ability to meet the evolving needs of the children and families they serve.
MOCN would also like to recognize and thank the Trustees of the Justice Ben Miller Declaration of Trust for their thoughtful stewardship and dedication to supporting organizations that make a meaningful difference in the community. Their commitment to philanthropy helps ensure that resources are directed where they can have the greatest impact.
"On behalf of our Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, and the thousands of families we serve, we extend our sincere appreciation to the Justice Benjamin K. Miller Charitable Fund and its Trustees," said Wilson. "Their generosity will help us continue providing compassionate care, preventing crises from becoming tragedies, and ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive."
