Prenatal Classes Offered at HSHS St. John’s Women and Infants Center

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Expectant moms can get all their “what to expect when expecting” questions answered by attending any or all of the prenatal education programs offered by St. John’s Women and Infants Center in the coming year.
Located in HSHS St. John’s Children’s Hospital, the Women and Infants Center offers a wide range of services for mothers and infants, including the upcoming classes :
 

  1. Preparing for Childbirth Class, in-person: Feb. 17 and March 31
  2. Breastfeeding Classes
    1. In-person: Feb. 12 and March 24
    2. Virtual: Feb. 18 and March 25
  3. Baby Basics
    1. In-person: March 10
    2. Virtual: Feb. 17 and March 24
  4. All About Car Seats Class, in-person: Feb. 18
  5. Infant and Child Safety Class, in-person: March 19
 
Classes are open to any mom-to-be and their support person. Additionally, St. John’s Women and Infants Center offers classes tailored to the whole family, including Super Sibling Class, The Joy of Grandparenting and Daddy Bootcamp.
 
St. John’s Women and Infants Center also offers a monthly Birth Circle Support Group that is an open discussion on birth experiences.

Expecting parents can also register for a guided tour of St. John’s Women and Infants Center. In this tour, participants will see the facility, including the triage area, a labor and delivery room, the antenatal area and the postpartum unit. They will review the process of arriving at the hospital, birth, delivery and postpartum care.
 
St. John’s Women and Infants Center is recognized as a Level III Perinatal Center, providing the highest level of care for mothers and babies in south-central Illinois. The Women and Infants Center welcomes more than 2,000 babies every year. The hospital also offers the area’s only Level III NICU, with an expert care team of neonatologists, nurse practitioners, RNs and other medical professionals trained to work with the smallest patients.
