The Springfield Area Arts Council (SAAC) has opened applications for the 2026 City Arts Grant, a competitive funding opportunity supporting individual visual, literary, and performing artists living in Springfield. The program awards grants of up to $3,000 to help artists create projects that engage the community and take place within Springfield city limits. Funded projects may include exhibitions, performances, readings, public art, or other creative initiatives that bring new artistic experiences to local audiences.
Applications are now open and must be submitted online by 11:59 p.m. CT on April 17, 2026. Funded projects must take place between May 10 and November 10, 2026, and be accessible to the public. Artists can review guidelines and apply online.
The City Arts Grant is made possible through funding from the City of Springfield and is administered by the Springfield Area Arts Council as part of its mission to enrich the community through the arts.
The Springfield Area Arts Council has a rich history in the Springfield community and beyond. Serving both Sangamon and Menard counties, SAAC enhances the quality of life in its geographic focus area through its programs and events throughout the year. Its grant programs provide critically needed funds to support artists, arts organizations, and schools in the area. SAAC remains steadfast in its dedication to enriching the community by promoting all art forms and providing creative opportunities to participate in and enjoy the arts.
