[Springfield,IL] – The Springfield Park District is thrilled to invite visitors to join us for the highly anticipated Opening Weekend at the Henson Robinson Zoo on April 5th and 6th, as we kick off the 2025 season with new animal friends, exciting activities, and a refreshed zoo experience!
Opening Weekend marks the perfect time to explore the zoo’s picturesque grounds and be among the first to enjoy all the exciting updates we’ve made for the new season.
Highlights of Opening Weekend:
- Keeper Chats & Animal Encounters: Experience interactive presentations from our expert zookeepers and get up close with our beloved Animal Ambassadors. Don’t forget to check out our new merchandise and enjoy special gift shop sales throughout Opening Weekend.
- Starting April 5th, the zoo will be open daily from 10 AM to 5 PM. Admission fees:
- Adults (13-61): $7.50
- Children (3-12) & Seniors (62+): $5.50
- Children 2 & Under: FREE
Key Events to Look Forward To:
- Earth Day- April 22, 2025: Free seed packet handout, craft, and Animal Encounters.
- PBS Family Fun Day- May 10, 2025, 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm.
- Mother’s Day - May 11, 2025: Moms get in free with a paying guest.
- Dr. Doolittle Day – May 31, 2025.
- Father’s Day – June 15, 2025: Dads get in free with a paying guest.
- Zoolie Ghoulie – Dates to be announced in October.
- Zoo Lights – November 28 thru December 23, 2025.
