The UIS Performing Arts Center, in collaboration with Coalescence Theatre Project, is excited to present Doctor Voynich and Her Children, a thought-provoking dystopian drama by Leanna Keyes. The play is set in a divided America where science is outlawed and freedoms are stripped away, painting a poignant and poetic vision of a post-Roe v. Wade future.
The play will run November 19-22 at the UIS Studio Theatre, tickets are $20. Tickets can be purchased at UISpac.com. Shows are at 7:30 pm on November 19-21 with a matinee on November 22 at 2 pm.

It is a dystopian world with an America divided into the Coastals and the Midlands, a place where science has been forgotten and outlawed, books burned, and freedoms stripped away. Doctor Rue Voynich and her apprentice Fade travel through this American Midland, dispensing herbal medications. When they meet Hannah, a desperate young woman, they must use ancient knowledge to help her complete an abortion before the law catches up with them. A poetic, queer, and all-too-real play about mothers, daughters, and navigating a post-Roe v. Wade future.

Directed by Al Oltmanns, the play features Aurora Thorpe, Dawn Lansden, Kay’te Ingram, Maggie Shackley, Kelli Saldivar, Breeann Dawson, and Tran Pham.
