On Saturday, April 27, The Illinois Jaycees recognized City of Springfield Director of Communications Haley Wilson as one of its honorees for The Outstanding Young Persons (TOYP) of Illinois for 2024. Haley joined City of Springfield in May 2023 and is responsible for all City communications and outreach including Municipal Channel 18 and the City’s Audio-Visual Department.

Wilson was honored by Jaycees for Cultural Achievement as co-founder of The Culture Experience, LLC. The Culture Experience was established to create access and representation for minority members and others within spaces that lack diversity in the Springfield community.

“It is truly humbling to be recognized as an Illinois Top Outstanding Young Person for 2024,” said Wilson. “This honor serves as a reminder that leadership is not defined solely by accomplishments, but by the ability to persevere, inspire, and empower those around us. I am deeply grateful for this recognition and remain dedicated to continuously striving to be the leader my team and family deserve.”

TOYP recognizes individuals between the ages of 18 and 40 who exemplify the best attributes of young people from across Illinois. Candidates come from many backgrounds and each excels in their chosen field, endeavors and show a great commitment to their respective communities.

Wilson received her honor at the Illinois Jaycees’ annual awards banquet held at the Embassy Suites in East Peoria, Illinois
