LINDSAY BOAT LAUNCHES AT LAKE SPRINGFIELD TO CLOSE FOR STATE HIGH SCHOOL BASS TOURNAMENT
The Lindsay Bridge boat launches at Lake Springfield will be closed to the public beginning Friday, June 3rd through Sunday, June 5th at approximately 4 p.m. to accommodate the Illinois High School Coaches State Bass Fishing Tournament. The Harbor Point and Sailboat Launches in Center Park, the Spaulding Dam Launch, and Marine Point Launch will remain open to the public. There will be 154 youth anglers representing over 40 high schools participating in the tournament. The public is invited to the fish
TRAFFIC LIGHT REPAIRS PLANNED FOR VETERANS & WASHINGTON THURSDAY
On Thursday, May 26 beginning around 7 a.m., lanes on north-bound Veterans Parkway and east-bound Washington Street will be reduced near the intersection to accommodate replacement of overhead traffic signals. Repair work is estimated to be complete by 3 p.m. In the event of inclement weather, this work will be rescheduled. Motorists should plan to take alternative routes to avoid delays and should slow down and drive with caution around this work zone.
FIFTH STREET TO REDUCE FOR WATER MAIN REPLACEMENT
Beginning Monday, May 23rd, lanes on the east side of 5th Street will be reduced between Iles Avenue and Bryn Mawr Boulevard to accommodate water main replacement work. This work is expected to take multiple days and will be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. All lanes will reopen after road surface repairs are complete.Motorists should plan to take alternative routes and should slow down and be aware of all crews and equipment in and near roadways.
CWLP PREPARED TO LESSEN IMPACT ON CUSTOMERS FROM PREDICTED MIDWEST ENERGY CRUNCH
On Tuesday night City Water, Light and Power (CWLP) officials presented to the Springfield City Council on what lies ahead for CWLP customers with the possibility of rolling blackouts for Midwest states being predicted. Officials explained the utility’s role in regional energy emergencies, with an overview of what resources it has, and the mitigation and steps that are and would be taken by CWLP, including asking its customers to conserve, should an energy emergency arise. CWLP 2021 Water Quality Report Released
City Water, Light and Power’s newest water quality report is now online for viewing and available to customers, www.cwlp.com/WQR2021. As in years past, CWLP-produced drinking water met all USEPA and State of Illinois drinking water health standards and no violations of a contaminant level or any other water quality standard occurred.
