Virtual Press Availability, Training Grants to Local First Responders
What: Memorial Health System will host a virtual press conference via Zoom to share details of grants being made by the Memorial Medical Center Foundation to 32 central Illinois EMS agencies to supply American Heart Association (AHA) instructional books for Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Pediatric Life Support (PLS). SPRINGFIELD – Robert Cunningham, RN, Cardiac Cath Lab, is the Memorial Medical Center Colleague of the Month for January. On and off his unit, Cunningham is known for his “therapeutic communication” abilities and the way he is able to calm anxious patients.Cunningham was recently nominated by a grateful patient for a Daisy Award for Excellence in Nursing. EMS Agencies Receive Grant for On-site Training, Resource Libraries
SPRINGFIELD – Thirty-two emergency medical service (EMS) agencies in nine counties will receive more than $17,000 in grant money from the Memorial Medical Center Foundation to purchase instructional materials required for on-site training and certification. Influenza Cases Drop Dramatically This Season
SPRINGFIELD – Memorial Health System hospitals are seeing a dramatic decrease this year in the number of influenza cases, thanks in part to precautions being taken to slow the spread of COVID-19.From October to now, only six people have been hospitalized for influenza at Memorial Health System’s five hospitals: Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Decatur Memorial Hospital, Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville, Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln and Taylorville Memorial Hospital. SPRINGFIELD – Applications are now available for the 2021 Memorial Medical Center Foundation Healthcare Career Education Grants.Grants are awarded to students pursuing careers crucial to present and future clinical care needs at Memorial Medical Center. Award amounts vary based upon program of study. Recipients will complete a work obligation at Memorial Medical Center upon completion of their program. Applicants must be currently attending or accepted into a fully accredited school for their chosen field
