Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and results oriented individual to serve as Auditor in Charge on various complex, non-routine audit projects. This position will develop, plan, and coordinate full scope internal audit programs. The position will also assign audit segments to team members and explain the assignment’s relationship to overall audit objectives. Additionally, the position will attend and/or conduct entrance and exit conferences and prepare working papers, supporting materials, and preliminary audit findings for review by the Audit Manager. This position provides a great opportunity for a motivated individual who is interested in managing and conducting complex audits for the Department. Essential Functions

  • Serves as Auditor in Charge on various complex, non-routine audit projects.
  • As an auditor, conducts entrance conferences and meetings with affected Departmental staff and other appropriate personnel to discuss details, duration, and scope of the audit.
  • As an auditor, compiles and analyzes information gathered during the audit.
  • Attends and participates in formal and informal training to increase knowledge in audit practice and techniques and in programmatic activities of the Department.
  • Provides input to the Audit Manager in the preparation of audit procedures and audit manuals that will be used by the Office of Internal Audits.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college with coursework in auditing, business management, public administration, economics, accounting, or related subjects.
  • Requires three years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a public or private sector auditing office.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 or more years of professional experience conducting audits in a public or private organization.
  • 3 years of professional experience providing agency/organization monitoring regarding implementation of corrective action plans resulting from audits in a public or business organization.
  • 3 years of professional experience planning and writing audit programs in a public or private organization.
  • 3 years of professional experience serving as subject matter expert regarding an auditing program in a public or business organization.
  • 3 years of professional experience serving in a liaison capacity with external entities for a public or business organization.

  • Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties. Requires appropriate, valid driver's license.
