Job Responsibilities

  • Serves as Statewide Foster Support Policy and Projects Coordinator and unit expert on current and proposed foster care policy
  • Performs programmatic and administrative functions of the unit's operations
  • Performs detailed research, gathers information and finalizes recommendations for reports on issues pertaining to the unit's administrative and programmatic activities, such as Adoption and Guardianship manuals and surveys
  • Serves as working supervisor
  • Coordinates and manages a variety of special federal and state grant activities related to foster care, permanency, and other child welfare activities
  • Manages, coordinates, and prepares contracts for the unit
  • Represents the Administrator of Foster Support Services on issues relating to the unit's programs/administration at Agency work groups, including but not limited to the Permanency Initiative Technical Assistance Advisory Group, Subsidized Guardianship Work Group, IGH Group, Adoption Listing Services Work Group, and AFCARS.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires a master's degree in social work or a related human services field from a recognized college or university.
  • Requires three years of progressively responsible administrative child welfare experience with an MSW OR four years of progressively responsible administrative experience with a master's degree in a related human services field.
  • This position has been found to meet the requirements in section 4A-101 of the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act requiring the occupant/employee to file a Statement of Economic Interest. The Illinois Governmental Ethics Act (5 ILCS 420/4A et seq.) requires certain state officials and employees to file annual Statements of Economic Interest with the Office of the Secretary of State that will be made available for examination and copying by the public. All employees required to file a Statement of
  • Economic Interest are also required to file the Supplemental Statement of Economic Interest with the Executive Ethics Commission. (See Executive Order 15-09) Fines and penalties apply to untimely filings.
