Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and results oriented individual to serve as Central Office of Contract Administration Account Technician. Under direction, this position will verify, prepare, enter, and maintain all contract obligation records in central contract files and Department information
management and accounting systems. The position will serve as an inter-departmental liaison in order to obtain necessary approval and signatures so documents can be obligated with the Office of the Comptroller. The position will independently review, analyze, evaluate, and process all contract obligation documents for purchase of service, grants, and other
contracts. This position provides a great opportunity for someone who has an affinity for numbers and a keen eye for ensuring accuracy and eliminating discrepancies. Essential Functions

  • Serves as Central Office of Contract Administration Account Technician.
  • Independently reviews, analyzes, evaluates, and processes all contract obligations documents for purchase of service, grants, and other contracts, working to ensure that such obligations do not exceed the maximum established ceiling shown for each contract in the annual spending plan.
  • Files all contract obligations documents in an accurate and timely manner, preparing and providing written and/or oral responses concerning these actions with the Office of the Comptroller.
  • On a monthly basis, reconciles contract obligation records with Office of Contract Administration Central Office staff and the Office of the Comptroller, including  obligations which have not advanced to payable status at the Office of the Comptroller.
  • Closes and archives contract files as directed and in accordance with the State Records Act; maintains logs of files and records, reflecting any offsite storage.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of two years of college and one year of technical accounting experience OR four years of related clerical bookkeeping experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience in an office setting applying extensive knowledge of accounting techniques.
  • 3 years of experience in an office setting applying working knowledge of state or non-state accounting procedures.
  • 3 years of experience in an office setting utilizing extensive knowledge of office methods and procedures.
