Growth Executive – Lasting Local Impact, Supporting Local Youth
 Join the executive staff of the Abraham Lincoln Council and serve your community. The successful candidate will help drive significant growth in membership and participation in traditional Scouting programs, while also increasing the number of Scouting units within an assigned geographic area.
Today’s professional Scouters are a diverse group of men and women sharing a dynamic career offering independence, achievement, and stability. This is work that makes a difference, work that calls one to continual learning and challenge, work that offers solid compensation, benefits, and advancement.  Prior scouting experience may help a person accelerate the job understanding but will not hinder a person from being successful.
The Company:
The Abraham Lincoln Council has been serving central Illinois for more than 105 years, and has been the home of Film Makers, Civic Leaders, Olympians, and more. You have probably seen or used one of the countless service projects that Scouts have completed for our community.  Headquarters in Springfield, IL. Our office is easily accessible off Interstate 55, making this a convenient workplace for those living further from the Greater Springfield Area.
The Position:
The growth executive is a professional position that has executive responsibilities that are broad and varied. Duties include promoting, supervising, and working through adult volunteers including parents and community leaders. Different aspects of the position include but are not limited to:
-Sales: The growth executive is responsible for growing Scouting membership, through volunteers, for extending various scouting programs to schools, religious, civic, fraternal, educational, or other community-based organizations throughout the council’s geography.
 
-Service: The professional staff provides quality service through timely communication, regular meetings, training events and activities.
-Fundraising: Working with volunteers, professionals recruit leadership for the Investment in Character Campaign to meet the financial and fundraising needs of the council.
-Administration: The Growth Executive administers the Scouting Program in the assigned council geographic service territory area (Menard, Sangamon, Christian, Montgomery, Morgan, Cass, Greene, Scott and Macoupin counties)
-Public Relations: The Growth Executive must be a good role model and must recognize the importance of good working relationships with other professionals and with volunteers. Scouting depends on community support and acceptance. Professional leaders must have good communication skills and be able to tell Scouting's story to the public.
Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in sales, marketing, relationship management
  • Must enjoy working with people from all levels of society ranging from CEO's to parents of youth members
  • Must be a self-starter with a strong work ethic and ability to multi-task
  • People-oriented, having the ability to work well with adult volunteers, community and business leaders, and representatives of other organizations
  • Able to work varied hours when necessary to achieve positive objectives
  • Believe in the BSA and subscribe to its principles and standards
  • Exceptional time management and organization skills
  • Bi-lingual helpful (Spanish) but not necessary
  • Must have reliable personal transportation, valid driver’s license, and insurance
  • Be able to participate in outdoor activities
  • Must be able to work 40 plus hours per week, including evenings and weekends
Compensation & Benefits:
 
  • Salary: $40,000 - $43,888 per year
  • Automobile Mileage Reimbursement of 72 cents per mile based on the National IRS limit.
