The Sertoma Club of Springfield conducted a successful fundraising walk on October 5th in Washington Park. Over 70 people, including some of the Club's scholarship recipients, participated in the 10th annual walk on a beautiful, sunny day. The fundraising goal of $12,000 for the walk was exceeded, and participants were able to learn about organizations serving people with hearing loss in Springfield at the event, including the Springfield Center for Independent Living, the Illinois Technology Assistance Program, and the Illinois Telecommunications Access Corporation. A choral group from the Illinois School for the Deaf opened the program with a patriotic song.

Club President Diane Long thanked walk coordinator Mark Hanson and walk participants. She said the proceeds from the day would support hearing aids and other technology used by senior citizens in Springfield with hearing loss. --end--
