Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and results oriented individual to serve as Reimbursement Officer for Children’s Accounts.  Under general supervision, this position will perform a variety of professional reimbursement functions.  The position will investigate and analyze reports and documents to determine initial and ongoing eligibility of Department youth in care for Social Security and Title IV-D benefits.  The position will calculate conserved funds, reviewing, processing, and posting disbursements to the Trust System to generate payments consistent with Social Security regulations.  The position will also identify case specific scenarios resulting in gaps in eligibility and overpayments.  This position provides a great opportunity for a motivated, detail-oriented individual who is interested in playing a role in the reimbursement process for the Department of Children and Family Services.  DCFS offers a competitive compensation plan, excellent benefits, and a pension program.  The ideal candidate for this position will have excellent organizational skills and communications skills.  We invite you to join our innovative team to help make a positive difference in the lives of the children and families of Illinois.

Essential Functions

• Serves as Reimbursement Officer for Children’s Accounts
• Calculates conserved funds, reviewing, processing, and posting disbursements to the Trust System to generate payments consistent with Social Security regulations
• Identifies case specific scenarios resulting in gaps in eligibility and overpayments
• Serves as liaison with the field and SSA, answering complex questions to resolve issues impacting eligibility for federal benefits
• Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

Minimum Qualifications

• Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college with courses in accounting, economics, or business administration, preferably including courses in insurance, estate, and probate law
• Requires ONE year of work experience in the reimbursement field
