CWLP Receives $2.9M Federal Funding For More Lead Service Line Replacement Work
Springfield, Illinois –Beginning in March 2025, City Water, Light, and Power (CWLP) is set to begin another phase of lead service line replacements thanks to a $2.9 million in Federal monies provided through the Illinois Environmental Protection Agencies Public Water Supply Loan Program (PWSLP) State Revolving Fund (SRF). The funding, which covers the cost of replacement of the portion of lead water service lines that are customer-owned in low income areas, is set to be used for around 400 homes in Census

Springfield, IL—The City of Springfield extends its gratitude to the security team at Lincoln Public Library and the Springfield Police Department for their swift and professional response to an incident on library grounds earlier today. According to the Deputy Chief of Security, the situation began when an individual attempted to instigate a physical altercation within the library. Library personnel intervened, but the individual became combative, prompting two library security guards to step in.

NORTH NINTH DETOURED FOR WATER WORK
North-bound Ninth Street between Jefferson and Madison Streets is currently closed for City Water, Light and Power crews to make repairs to a leaking water main valve. A detour route is posted for motorists. Due to the pavement opening necessary to do the work, impacted lanes will remain closed until road surface repairs are completed.Motorists should plan for alternative routes, always slow down, and be aware of crews and equipment in work zones.

SMTD Route Changes Coming January 6th
Springfield, IL – The Sangamon Mass Transit District (SMTD) will ring in the new year with several changes to bus routes.
